Montpelier, Vt. – The Vermont Economic Development Authority announces today $13,883,650 of investments in 32 projects in Addison, Caledonia, Chittenden, Essex, Lamoille, Orange, Rutland, Washington, Windham, and Windsor Counties during the Third Quarter (January 1 through March 31) of the fiscal year.
“We are so pleased these loans will be used to invest in downtowns, help businesses and farms grow, and aid in disaster recovery,” says VEDA CEO Joan Goldstein. “It is our mission to support Vermont’s economy so we strongly encourage businesses large and small to reach out to us so we can also help them achieve their goals.”
Here is a look at some of VEDA’s Third Quarter investments:
- PK Wood Pellet in Newbury – $3,060,000 to purchase a former sawmill and transform it into a pellet mill.
- City of Winooski and Nedde Real Estate – $2,127,000 to make infrastructure improvements along Abenaki Way in Winooski.
- Dharani Hospitality in Brattleboro – $1,008,000 to purchase the EconoLodge on Canal Street.
- Always Full Asian Market in South Burlington – $1,000,000 to help an established market expand by relocating and buying a building on Williston Road.
- Caledonia Food Coop in St. Johnsbury – $900,000 to help this member-owned grocery open a store on Railroad Street later in 2026.
- Champlain Valley Grain Center in Ferrisburgh – $680,000 for a new building.
- Wellspring Holdings in Shelburne – $600,000 to purchase and renovate a mixed-use property with commercial and residential space.
- Vulcan Community Fitness in Montpelier – $570,000 to help rehab 11 East State Street into a 24/7 fitness center. The property has been vacant since the flood of July 2023.
- Lemieux Dressage in Cabot – $538,000 to help Lemieux Dressage consolidate operations from three locations into one and build a new equine facility.
- Hunter Excavating in South Londonderry – $436,685 for a new piece of forestry equipment.
- Rocky Branch Farm in Lunenburg – $340,000 to purchase Prospect Farm.
- Jones Dough Company in Rutland – $270,000 to purchase Jones Donuts & Bakery.
- Whitaker & Son Logging in Stockbridge – $250,000 for a new piece of logging equipment.
- Blackwell Ink in Springfield – $200,000 to purchase new equipment and finance working capital.
- Verterra Nursery in Hinesburg – $175,000 to help a cooperative nursery purchase seven acres to grow trees and shrubs.
- Red Hen Bakery in Middlesex – $150,000 to relocate and expand into a larger building.
- Old Tower Ice Cream in Jeffersonville – $143,045 to make improvements to the Jeffersonville Granary on Route 15.
- Douglas Sweets in Shelburne – $142,920 for new packaging equipment.
- Vermont Heavy Timber in Huntington – $140,000 to purchase a new excavator.
- Hoolie Flats in Calais – $124,000 to help this vegetable farm overcome 2023 flood damage and make improvements to existing structures.
- Agrigorial in Jeffersonville – $100,000 in working capital to support operations.
- KAD Models & Prototypes in East Randolph – $100,000 in working capital to support operations.
- Lucas Dairy in Orwell – $100,000 to recover from last summer’s drought.
- TreBar in Proctorsville – $100,000 to aid in the rehabilitation of 73 Depot Street which was severely damaged by flooding in July 2023.
- The Better Box in Stowe – $75,000 to purchase new vending machines.
- Kellogg Enterprises in Hartland – $67,000 to help an independent log hauler.
- Mountainside Resort at Stowe – $55,000 to design a way to connect a private drinking water system to the Town of Stowe’s water system.
