Rachel I. SchumacherNorth Bennington
Rachel I. Schumacher was appointed to the VEDA Board in 1999. In 2004, Schumacher retired from Transitor Electronics, Inc., a Bennington-based manufacturing subsidiary of Waycom Holdings, located in the United Kingdom. Transitor produces high-quality Tantalum Capacitors for the aerospace, defense and medical industries. Schumacher’s professional career at Transitor began in 1977, and included positions as Financial Controller, Corporate Director, Vice President for Finance, and Vice President for Finance and Operations. Schumacher’s prior employment included four years as Chief Accountant and Business Manager for International Dodge, Inc. in Hoosick Falls, NY. Schumacher graduated Summa Cum Laude from Elie University in Montreal, earning a BBA degree there. She has served for many years on various boards for non-profit organizations, including the Southwestern Vermont Medical Center, Bennington Chamber of Commerce, Bennington United Counseling, and the Vermont Women's Fund. Since 1993, Schumacher has served as Treasurer for the John McCullough Free Library. Schumacher’s personal interests include extensive travel, antiques and fine arts, theatre and concerts, gourmet cuisine and reading.
