Revision Eyewear, Ltd.Direct Loan Program
Revision Eyewear designs, develops and brings to market industry-leading protective eyewear built to meet tough military requirements. Revision's products have been credited with saving many military personnel from eye injuries. The company currently markets four products -- the Sawfly Eyewear System, Desert Locust Goggle, Bullet Ant Tactical Goggle and the Hellfly Ballistic Sunglass -- with several new products coming to market in 2009.
Founded in Canada in 2001, Revision opened a U.S.-based facility in 2004 in Williston. The company quickly outgrew its space in Williston and subsequently moved to a 46,000 sq. ft. facility in Essex Junction in August, 2006. The company is now a source of employment for close to 100 Vermonters.
Previously, Revision outsourced its component manufacturing and the product was then shipped to Revision for final assembly and quality assurance testing. Revision Eyewear is currently undertaking a $3.0 million project to purchase the necessary equipment to manufacture product at their Essex Junction location. VEDA funded a portion of the project with a $1.0 million Subchapter 5 Direct Loan in conjunction with a $1.5 million loan from TD Banknorth.
This expansion is expected to increase Revision's employee base in Vermont by as much as 50 employees over the next three years.
